“Fiona Bruce proves a bracingly chipper genealogist…it’s all terribly Enid Blyton. Timmy! Return the tissues!” – The Guardian
(Wall-To-Wall BBC1 2009)
CREDITS
The BBC newsreader, whose Mum was given up for adoption in the 1930s, discovers a whole branch of the family she never knew existed, including a great-grandfather who fought and died in WWI, but not before suffering a bad case of shellshock.
On her Dad’s side she discovers a fraudulent 19thCentury photographer in Brighton who was eventually guilty of fraud and convicted and a line of Scottish trawlermen, one of whom ended his life in tragic circumstances.
