The Battle of Jutland during WWI was the biggest and bloodiest battle the British Navy ever fought. What was supposed to be a walkover for Britain turned into a humiliating defeat at the hands of the Germans. In the recriminations that followed, the Admiral who led fleet, John Jellicoe, was blamed for being too cautious and squandering his fleet’s superior firepower.

One hundred years later the Admiral’s grandson sets out to right what he sees as a wrong that has been done to his family’s reputation. He joins marine archaeologist, Dr Innes McCartney who is mounting a definitive survey of the battle’s shipwrecks that lie at the bottom of the North Sea.

The scans reveal exactly where the ships were hit and when and where they sank. Stunning CGI brings the ships back to life and shows just how their fate unfolded.

Some of the new evidence the survey team uncover directly contradicts the official accounts that were written in the immediate aftermath of the battle.

The Royal Navy’s bloodiest day can be seen in a whole new light.
